instrumentation : chamber orchestra duration : 12' year of composition : 2018 about : L’inévitable idéalisme was written for the Ensemble Contemporain de Montréal + for the Generation 2018 tour that stopped in eight cities across Canada. I composed this work during a pretty difficult period, and the creative process became my only way out of the pessimism that afflicted me at that time. The choice of this title, the inevitable idealism, was the occasion for me to remember that, even in the face of adversity, we must not abandon our ideals, and that letting go of our dreams is throwing the towel. The music, with its intense physicality, its constant movement forward, its progression, tries to share with the listener an inevitable desire for a better life.
